NBA History of Science Seminar

Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr during a 1936 conference in Copenhagen.

Mark Walker (Union College), “Copenhagen Revisited”

The mysterious visit paid by the German physicist Werner Heisenberg to his Danish colleague and mentor Niels Bohr in occupied Copenhagen remains controversial. This talk will discuss the available primary and secondary sources, including material that either has been neglected or emerged after Michael Frayn’s 1998 play “Copenhagen” to shed new light on this encounter.

Note: In 2002, the Niels Bohr Archive has published documents relating to the 1941 Bohr-Heisenberg meeting here.
